Dreams Are the Engines of Possibilities

By: jwilder, 1/17/2022

Dreams are the engines of possibilities that help us escape the status quo.

Most people don't get to dream on the job. Most jobs simply need to get done. There is a clear set of rules, responsibilities, and expectations. The tasks that need to be done dominate the hours of our day. It seems like there is no time or space for dreaming. Dream anyway. Whatever time you can carve out, spend it on a dream.

It's hard to see new things at ground level, where our view is obstructed by the daily needs, tasks, urgencies and expectations. But there is a way above it all. Our dreams train us to see possibilities.

A dream is like the engine of a rocket. When ignited, it lifts us above the gravity of the way things are. It elevates us to a higher perspective where we can see things in a new way. Giant buildings seem smaller. People look like ants. Trees look like moss growing on a rock. Lakes look like puddles. Even our problems seem smaller!

With dreams you don't need money, machines or permission. You simply imagine, create and build. The more detail you add to your dream the more possible it becomes.

Skeptics will never see the possibilities because they train themselves to see flaws. But dreamers see the things no one else sees. They are the ones that ascend to the high places and come back with visions and possibilities. Some even dare to build what they have seen.

Dreams are the engines of possibilities that help us escape the gravity of what is and elevate us to the place of what could be.

"Alice laughed. There's no use trying, she said: one CAN'T believe impossible things. I daresay you haven't had much practice, said the Queen. When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." -Lewis Carroll: Through the Looking Glass
